Bookbinding Classes at Stampers Grove

After the success of Cass’ last series of bookbinding workshops we are delighted to have her back running another four 3 hour workshops for us over the next few months. You will be learning a new bookbinding method at each class. You can come to individual classes or book for the whole series. A mix of new, recycled and pre-used materials will be used in this course and the emphasis will be on working with everyday materials. Each class will allow time for creating the main structure of the book and time to personalise and decorate. The classes will run on Wednesday afternoons at 12noon to 3pm. The cost of each class is £18. All materials will be provided but if you have any papers, maps, wrapping papers etc that you would like to incorporate into your book, please do bring them along. Each class requires a minimum of 5 people to proceed and early booking is advised as we will make a decision based on numbers one week before the class so feel free to spread the word. 😊

PLEASE NOTE: Animal leather will be used in this course, if participants would prefer not to use leather please advise when booking so Cass can prepare an alternative.

Wednesday 2 August 12noon to 3pm: Fabric covered hardback binding

Create a professional looking fabric covered hardback book with covered stitching.

Wednesday 23 August 12noon to 3pm: Ribbon stitch leather binding

Make a leather bound book with a ribbon tie that is incorporated into exposed stitching – fabulous and functional.

create a hardback book with
decorative exposed stitching.

Cost is £18.00 per person and payment is required to confirm your booking. If you would like to book a space on any of these workshops please contact us on 0121 221 9440, email us on enquiries@stampersgrove.co.uk or simply pop into the shop.

Exciting News! Brand New Midweek Bookbinding course at Stampers Grove with Cass

Some Great News for those of you who like to get your teeth into new craft projects and are available for afternoon workshops on Wednesdays in April. Read on…..

Firsty, a bit of background………

Cass (or Cassandra Barron) came to our attention recently as a few of our regular workshop goers had the pleasure of attending her ‘Bookbinding with Cass’ workshops in Edinburgh.

When we heard that Cass was keen on exploring doing more workshops it seemed like an obvious natural fit to introduce her to Stampers Grove.

After having had the pleasure of meeting Cass ourselves we are even more excited and couldn’t wait to get started with this.

Rather than paraphrase what makes Cass tick the following is straight from her Cass’ Event Page

I am passionate about making books and using everyday, upcycled materials to create something both personal and unique. I make travel journals, wedding books and photo albums by commission but what I get a real buzz out of is sharing skills and teaching bookbinding workshops.

I work in collaboration with a range of organisations and cultural venues across Scotland to devise and deliver workshops, past partnerships include – Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art, The Edinburgh Remakery, Leith Academy, Dynamic Earth, Voluntary Action Service South Lanarkshire. I also run workshops in more informal settings, for parties, event openings and groups of friends.

Each workshop is tailor-made to fit the requirements of the group and everyone leaves with their very own finished book and the skills to make many more.

You can follow Cass on Facebook and see plenty of wonderful  pictures showing what you can expect from one of her workshops.  (Cass’ FaceBook Page is @BookbindingwithCass).

Without further ado, what will Cass be doing for us at Stampers Grove, and how can you get involved?
